Juvederm®

Juvederm® is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and facial wrinkles, crow’s feet, thinning lips, and loosening skin. This anti-aging treatment can also “plump up” the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Results generally last for two years and can be made to last even longer with follow-up and supplemental treatments.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is the first and only FDA-approved calcium hydroxylapatite injectable treatment available in the US. As a dermal filler with a viscose consistency that imitates the firmness of connective tissue, Radiesse brings youth back to your features. Recommended for the lower face and back of hands, this firming injectable can last for up to 18 months or even longer in some cases. With immediate results and little downtime required, this treatment helps to stimulate your natural production of elastin and collagen.

Restylane®

Restylane® is injected deep into the tissue via a fine needle, which also contains lidocaine to help you manage any discomfort. A small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, is included in the filler to minimize discomfort during the procedure. The volumizing effects of Restylane last between 6 to 12 months, depending on the location of the injection.

What’s the first step?

During this session, Dr. Keyes or one of our injection specialists will explain what a dermal filler is. Your targeted area will be assessed and your desired outcome will be discussed to determine the best treatment option for you. Your consultation session is also your opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions you have.

Upon completion of the assessment, your provider can perform the treatment immediately after your Dermal Filler consultation. If you would like to reschedule for another date, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you find the right day and time for you.

What to expect on the day of a Dermal Filler treatment

When you are ready for your procedure, a numbing medication will be applied to the treatment area to help reduce or eliminate any discomfort from the treatment. Some patients can expect mild discomfort if they are anxious about needles. Your provider will make some strategic marks to help plot your injection points for the filler.

Next, the injection sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent. The injection usually takes only a few moments per site. The process of injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result is performed, and additional filler is added as needed.

Once the two of you are satisfied, any markings will be cleaned off. You may be offered an ice pack to reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort. We will monitor you for 10 – 20 minutes so we can ensure you don’t have any negative reactions to the filler.

You can also schedule other noninvasive treatments such as BOTOX & Wrinkle Relaxers at this time.

Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Keyes or your provider will discuss your goals and the areas on your face you are looking to treat. From there, we will advise on the best course of treatment, potential risks associated with dermal fillers, and how much the procedure will cost so that you can make an informed decision.

Consultation / Treatment

When you come in for your consultation with Dr. Keyes or one of our advanced practice practitioners. You will discuss your aesthetic goals and your health will be evaluated. After discussing which Dermal Filler is best for you, your treatment plan will be created and you can receive your treatment that same day.

Immediately after treatment

Some redness and swelling may occur at the injection site, but this typically subsides within 24 hours. Most people can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. You will need to sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling and reduce facial puffiness.

Within 7-14 days

Bruising can last up to four days post-treatment but should resolve itself after that. By the end of two weeks post-injection, your fillers should settle and you should have beautiful, natural-looking results.

6-9 MONTHS

The effects of Dermal Fillers will last from several months to several years depending on the filler used and the area injected. During this time, your body will begin to naturally absorb the filler, causing slow volume loss. If you would like to maintain your appearance, we recommend scheduling touch-up appointments every six to nine months so the filler doesn’t wear off completely.

Dermal Fillers recovery

The Dermal Filler treatment is very quick and mostly pain-free. There is no downtime needed after you receive the treatment, which means you can resume normal activities right after your appointment. It is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48.

Patients can expect to be swollen the first 24-72 hours after your treatment, which is completely normal. You will need to resist the urge to massage any areas as this will only worsen the swelling and potentially displace the filler. Lightly using an ice pack or cold compress is appropriate for the first 24 hours but will not be helpful after that. Final results can be expected after two weeks once the swelling has completely subsided.
