What to expect on the day of Rhinoplasty surgery
On the day of your Rhinoplasty surgery in Miami, FL, you can expect the red carpet treatment, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Dr. Michael Keyes and our expert medical team will greet you warmly and guide you through the pre-operative preparations, which includes making any markings that he will use as a “guide” throughout your surgery. You will also meet with our Anesthesiologist who will review your medical history and administer the anesthesia.
Once you are comfortably sedated, Dr. Keyes will begin the surgical process, meticulously reshaping and refining your nasal structure according to the pre-discussed treatment plan.
A Rhinoplasty can take place as either a closed procedure (incisions are hidden inside the nostrils) or as an open procedure where the incision is made across the columella (the narrow strip of tissue separating the nostrils). Dr. Keyes will discuss which option is best for your particular case.
When reshaping the structure of your nose, it may require either removing bone and cartilage to reduce the size or it may need cartilage grafts to improve the overall shape. It is very common for cartilage from your septum to be used, but depending on what is discussed during your consultation, it could involve cartilage from your ears, a section from your ribs, or even cadaveric grafts. Dr. Keyes can also fix a deviated septum during this surgery by straightening and reducing the projections in your nose to improve breathing. Finally, the nasal tissue and skin will be redraped and the incisions will be closed.
After the surgery is completed, you will be moved to a recovery area where you will be monitored as you wake up from anesthesia. Dr. Keyes and his team will provide detailed post-operative instructions and support to help facilitate a smooth recovery process. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we will be with you every step of the way to ensure your Rhinoplasty experience is as comfortable and successful as possible.
