What to expect on the day of Neck Lift surgery

On the day of your Neck Lift surgery in Miami, you will meet with Dr. Michael Keyes once more to review your procedure one more time. He will make the necessary marks that will help guide him throughout your surgery, as well as give you a better idea of what your results will look like. You will also meet with our Anesthesiologist who will administer your anesthesia so your procedure is more tolerable.

Once you are under anesthesia, Dr. Keyes will make discreet incisions in strategic locations, typically around the ears and possibly under the chin, to access the underlying neck tissues. He will then carefully reposition and tighten the muscles, remove any excess skin, and sculpt the neck contour to achieve the desired outcome. In some cases, Liposuction may also be performed to remove excess fat deposits.

After completing the surgical steps, Dr. Keyes will close the incisions using sutures. Dressings or bandages will be applied to protect the incisions and support the healing process.

Consultation

During this initial appointment, Dr. Keyes will evaluate your neck and discuss your concerns and goals for the procedure. He will also review your medical history and perform a comprehensive examination to determine if you are a suitable candidate for a Neck Lift.

Surgery

When you arrive, Dr. Keyes and our Anesthesiologist will speak with you to go over the details and answer any lingering questions you may have. Dr. Keyes will also take this time to make any markings he will use as a guide for your procedure before sending you to the Operating Room. Dr. Keyes will make several incisions behind the ears and under the chin to lift your jowls and generally tighten the neck area. The operation should take about 2 to 3 hours depending on the techniques used.

Recovery

After you are released from our care, you will be able to return home and recover comfortably. You can expect some swelling, bruising, and mild pain during your initial recovery. You will need to continue taking your antibiotics until finished, even if you are feeling better, as well as high-protein supplements. This will ensure you recover as successfully as possible. Moving around as much as possible without causing distress is very important as well, with most patients returning to work and other daily duties within seven to 10 days. You should not exercise or perform any strenuous physical activities for up to four weeks.

Post-operative appointments

The day after your Neck Lift, you will need to return so a nurse can observe your initial healing and change any bandages if needed. Dr. Keyes will then have you return about a week post-surgery so he can monitor your recovery and satisfaction. You can expect another appointment about a month or two later, followed by another one three months post-surgery, then again six months later.
