While Liposuction is not an appropriate substitute for traditional weight loss, however, it can help encourage a healthy lifestyle by permanently removing stubborn fat that does not respond to diet and exercise.
Technology
Today, there are various technologies available for patients looking to get a traditional liposuction procedure performed. At Celebrity Plastics, we pride ourselves on offering our patients state-of-the-art technologies, as everyone has different needs and goals. Read below to see what might be the best match for you:
- Microaire PAL: Microaire PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction) is an advanced liposuction technique that uses an electric handpiece to facilitate the removal of excess fat.
- Renuvion: Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, is an advanced technology used in conjunction with liposuction to achieve skin tightening and tissue rejuvenation. It combines RF energy with helium gas to create a cold plasma stream that is delivered under the skin’s surface via a handheld device. This causes immediate tissue contraction and collagen production, tightening skin and rejuvenating tissue appearance.J-Plasma is a common technology that can enhance cosmetic outcomes alongside body contouring and facial rejuvenation procedures, making it a safe and effective option for skin rejuvenation and tightening patients.
What are the benefits of Liposuction?
Our Miami patients have seen some incredible benefits from their Liposuction surgery, including helping reduce or even eliminate excess fat in problematic areas. It effectively removes fat cells in the abdomen, thighs, arms, and back. Dr. Keyes can also perform liposuction in the lower chin area to create a more defined jawline using a very gentle approach and specific techniques.
Some of the benefits our Miami patients have cited the following benefits from their surgery:
- Achieve a more sculpted body image: Working hard to create your ideal body aesthetic can be frustrating when certain fatty areas don’t go away. Dr. Keyes can expertly contour your body for the perfect shape.
- Better clothing fit: With a new body contour, your clothing options will open up, fitting you better than ever.
- Long-lasting results: With a proper diet and routine exercise, you can maintain your results for years to come. While weight fluctuations occur, they should be manageable after liposuction surgery.
- Safe and permanently eliminating fat cells: Say goodbye to that fat for good! Once fat cells are removed, they never come back in that area.
- Self-esteem boost: When you look good, you feel good. Removing stubborn fat deposits can significantly enhance your self-esteem and body image.
- Reduced fatty tissue in male breast: If you suffer from “man boobs,” you’ve probably tried diet and exercise. Liposuction will permanently eradicate stubborn fat and help you have a more masculine chest.
Who are the Best Candidates for a Liposuction Procedure?
While a liposuction consultation at Celebrity Plastics is the best way for patients to determine whether or not liposuction is the appropriate surgery for them, Dr. Keyes will also discuss a few guidelines to determine if you qualify for a Miami Liposuction:
- Possess regions of unwanted fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise
- Practicing a healthy diet and exercise plan
- Have firm, elastic skin
- Maintain realistic expectations
- Have no underlying medical conditions that could create complications
- Near their target weight
It is important to remember that liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss but an aid for those struggling with stubborn body fat deposits.
What’s the First Step?
The first step to getting Liposuction surgery in Miami, FL, is to book a consultation at Celebrity Plastics. You will meet with Dr. Keyes during your consultation to discuss your challenges and body goals.
Dr. Keyes will evaluate your health, assess the condition of your skin, and examine your body to determine where your fat deposits lie. He will then go into the details of our body-contouring methods that may be most appropriate for you. This consultation is the best time to ask any questions and address any concerns you have. Once everything has been discussed and the two of you decide this is the best direction for your body contouring journey, Dr. Keyes will create your customized procedure plan.
Our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you schedule your appointment and provide you with your pre-surgery instructions, which you are encouraged to follow. These detailed directions will discuss eating, drinking, smoking, and alcohol use and which medications to avoid, among additional instructions.
What to Expect on the Day of Liposuction Surgery
When you come into the surgical center on the day of your procedure, you will meet with Dr. Keyes to review the steps and goals of your liposuction. Then, a licensed anesthesiologist will administer your anesthesia, but the type of anesthesia will vary depending on what is being treated; a local anesthetic will be used for smaller areas, while larger areas and extensive procedures require general anesthesia.
Dr. Keyes will begin your surgery by making tiny incisions (usually a few millimeters in length) in strategic locations. Through these small openings, Dr. Keyes will insert a very thin tube called a cannula to remove and suck out the unwanted fat cells via the rubber tubing that is attached to a high vacuum pressure machine.
A liposuction can last between 30 minutes and several hours, depending on the extent of the procedure and the area being treated.

Liposuction Recovery
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure, so after surgery, you will be monitored in our recovery room until Dr. Keyes decides that you can be safely discharged. Since you will still feel the effects of the sedation and will likely feel a little sore, you will need an adult family member or friend available to drive you home.
Fluid drainage from the incisions is often common, so for the first few days, Dr. Keyes may choose to leave a small drainage tube beneath your skin to control this. You will also need to wear an elastic compression garment over the treated area for a few weeks to minimize swelling and help your skin shape into its new contour.
You can expect to experience mild pain, burning, swelling, and bleeding, along with potential temporary numbness. Dr. Keyes will prescribe medications to prevent infection, reduce swelling, and alleviate pain.
Patients should be able to resume work and their everyday activities about one week after the procedure. However, they should avoid vigorous activities such as exercise for several more weeks as directed.
You will be sent home with post-surgical care instructions, and following them with great care and precision is very important. Some of the more important instructions include wearing your compression garments 24/7 during your initial recovery to help reduce any swelling. You may take them off while you shower, but we encourage you to keep wearing them continuously until Dr. Keyes says it’s OK to stop. You should ensure that your garments are restrictive but not so tight that they cause blisters or make breathing difficult.
Another post-op instruction we encourage you to consider is a lymphatic drainage massage. Sometimes, after surgery, your lymphatic system tends to decrease the efficiency of lymph production, which can result in inflammation and other health issues. Your lymphatic system is part of your body’s defense mechanism, consisting of an internal network that works to maintain your body’s health; lymph is fluid that carries immune cells, proteins, hormones, toxins, and fatty acids. Massaging the areas of surgery will stimulate the flow of lymph and remove the toxins from your body at a faster rate.

What Will the Scarring Look Like?
What Will the Scarring Look Like?
While scarring is inevitable after surgery, most liposuction incisions are very tiny, which means the resultant scarring should be almost invisible to the naked eye. Initially, the scars will be pink or reddish and slightly raised, but over time, they will blend in with your surrounding skin.
Can I combine Liposuction with other procedures?
Can I combine Liposuction with other procedures?
Absolutely! Most of our Miami, FL, liposuction patients will combine the body contouring treatment with other procedures like abdominal etching. Liposuction can also be combined with a fat transfer breast augmentation, a Brazillian butt lift, or a tummy tuck.
Liposuction is a great way to get rid of excess fat, but oftentimes, looser skin is left due to the extraneous stretching your body goes through to accommodate your growing mass, even after a Lift or a Tuck. Many of our Miami patients elect to include a non-surgical skin tightening treatment to achieve a smoother and more svelte appearance.
No matter your aesthetic goals, please feel free to discuss them with Dr. Keyes during your consultation so that he can provide you with his expert recommendations and guide you on the best approach for your individual needs and goals.

What is Tumescent Liposuction?
What is Tumescent Liposuction?
There are many types of liposuction procedures available, so we understand how difficult it can be to understand all of the terminology and options. Tumescent liposuction uses local anesthesia (as opposed to general anesthesia) because it is a less invasive process.
Tumescent lipo is a saline solution that contains epinephrine and local anesthesia. It is strategically injected into the fatty areas of the body, causing the fat cells to swell and become firm. At this point, your plastic surgeon is able to move the cannula-suction device more easily through under the skin and suck out the fat.
Most patients are able to recover within two weeks and see their final results within three months.
