Introduction to Brow Lift
Brows are one of the defining facial features—they play an integral part in communication and delivering expressions. So, if you have sagging or droopy brows, it may cause others to think you are angry or sad when you are not. A Brow Lift from Dr. Michael Keyes at Celebrity Plastics in Miami, FL, can help give your face a more youthful appearance! If you are intrigued by this procedure, please read the information below.
What is a Brow Lift?
A Brow Lift, sometimes known as an eyebrow lift or forehead lift, raises the eyebrows to reduce wrinkles and frown lines while lifting any sagging skin.
Many people get a Brow Lift, which has cumulative effects on the facial anatomy associated with aging. This can be achieved by removing or changing the muscles and skin that create the drooping eyebrows, forehead furrows, and frown lines in the upper facial area.
When performing a brow lift, Dr. Keyes tightens the face’s skin, repositions the eyebrows to create a more flattering position, and removes any forehead wrinkles.
Types of Brow Lifts
A Brow Lift generally includes one of the following:
Classic Lift
An incision is made along the aesthetically friendly eyebrows while shortening the forehead by removing a piece of skin and applying the incision. Shortening the forehead lowers the hairline, making it ideal for those with a more prominent forehead. The classic lift brings everything upwards from your eyebrows, addressing the shape and symmetry of your brows.
Coronal Lift
A Coronal lift is similar to the classic, except the incision is made on the crown of your head instead of the hairline. Though this method better hides the incision, it increases the height of the forehead, making it unsuitable for some.
Direct Brow Lift
A direct Brow Lift removes a piece of skin and tissue from above the eyebrows or in the forehead. This procedure is best for patients with severely drooping brows and significant forehead wrinkles, where Dr. Keyes can naturally hide the incision. It is also preferred for patients with extremely thin or balding hairlines. This technique will lift sagging brows by pulling the skin and tissue down, making it ideal for those with a receding hairline.
Endoscopic Lift
Endoscopic brow lifts use five small incisions hidden in the hairline to lift everything from the hairline to the eyebrows. This tightens and smooths the entire forehead while lifting the eyebrow area to help open up the upper face. This type of lift can also address eyebrow shape and asymmetry.
Dr. Keyes will make three to five short (<1 inch) scalp incisions behind the hairline during the procedure. He will then take an endoscope, a pencil-like camera connected to a monitor, and insert it through one of the incisions, allowing him to see the muscles and tissues under the skin. Dr. Keyes lifts the forehead skin through a different incision and alters the muscles and underlying tissues to produce a smooth appearance.
Sometimes, patients may also have their eyebrows lifted and secured into a higher position with sutures beneath the skin’s surface or temporarily fixated behind the hairline. This is an outpatient procedure with a short recovery period.
This lift type may not be best for someone with severe brow descent or heavier skin.
Dr. Keyes will discuss each lift so you can decide which technique is best for you.

Who Are the Best Candidates for the Brow Lift Procedure?
A Brow Lift is a great way to address a drooping brow, giving a patient’s eyes a heavy and tired appearance. Many patients can also have excess skin on their upper eyelids, creating an upset, angry, or tired look, and some patients have a subconscious inclination to frown. In addition to possessing these features, the best candidates for a Miami Brow Lift should have the following characteristics:
- Aged 40 or above. This is when most people see more wrinkles, fine lines, and brow drooping.
- Saggy eyebrows and wrinkled forehead.
- Maintains realistic expectations of procedure outcome
- No history of bleeding, clotting, or adverse reactions to anesthesia
- No underlying medical conditions
Brow Lift Recovery
Your Brow Lift surgery will be an outpatient procedure, which means most patients can return home with the help of a family member or friend. We can also help arrange recovery at an aftercare facility if needed. Some mild swelling and bruising are expected, which should subside over the coming days. You will be provided post-operative instructions to help make your recovery as easy and successful as possible.
On the first postoperative day, patients may shower and wash their hair. For the first five days following your procedure, you are asked to have very little activity, ice your head, and keep it elevated to minimize swelling.
On the first day after surgery, you may take light walks climb, and descend stairs. If you are feeling well enough, you could return to work in about ten days, but you should plan on taking a few weeks off and expect to return to total activity in three weeks.
A brow lift may cause scarring; however, the incision area is near the hairline. Dr. Keyes can also recommend products that will help reduce the appearance of any scarring.
