A patch can be placed behind your ear either the night before or the morning of the surgery. You will need a prescription for this if Dr. Keyes wants you to apply it before you come to the hospital. REGIONAL ANESTHESIA

A local anesthetic, such as lidocaine, will numb the nerves responsible for sensation at the surgery site. This can be administered through a nerve block before the surgery or by injecting a long-acting anesthetic during the procedure.

REDUCING SURGICAL INFECTIONS

ACTIVITY AFTER SURGERY

Getting out of bed the night after surgery is crucial for a faster recovery. Patients who start moving early experience less pain and recover more quickly. While you should avoid lifting more than 10 lbs during the first few weeks, it’s important to gently move your arms and shoulders to prevent stiffness and lymphedema.

Most patients can gradually resume their exercise routine about a week after their breast augmentation. However, to prevent this, you will need to avoid chest muscle exercises for the first six weeks.

It’s important to not rush your recovery prematurely and using your pectoralis muscle due to potential complications, which can include fluid collection, implant displacement, or the increased potential for capsular contracture.

THE KELLER FUNNEL

The Keller Funnel is an FDA-approved device that helps plastic surgeons place silicone gel implants more effectively. It looks similar to a frosting bag, with the narrow tip inserted into the incision. The implant is then placed into the Funnel, which transfers it directly from the original packaging. Dr. Keyes then places the pre-filled implant into the breast pocket by gently squeezing the device, and the slippery substance that coats the inside of the Funnel allows the implant to slide into the pocket and the breast.
